I bought a large wine fridge (200cm x 60cm x 60cm) for filament storage. It's very new with a faulty compressor, so not turned on, but I expect it's airtight. I bought a small electric dehumidifier and have been running it on the bottom shelf 24/7 for the past few days, and about 100ml of water is in the tank. However, the humidity still sits at around 50% - no improvement since adding the dehumidifier. Is there something I'm not understanding? Is there a better way of bringing down the humidity?

Good morning (if it happens to be morning where you are )

I ve posted this already in the Ultimaker Subreddit, but wanted to ask a bigger audience. Thank you in Advance

I have a question regarding my “old” 3D printer. Back in 2017, I bought an Ultimaker 3, but to be honest, I barely used it. Life got in the way, and I never really found the time to dive into 3D printing properly. I was super enthusiastic, but in the end, I only made six or seven prints. Since then, it has just been sitting unused in my office.

Back then, the availability of tutorials wasn’t great, and my knowledge in the field was basically nonexistent. To be honest, that hasn’t changed much, but I really want to improve.

I want to give 3D printing another shot because it still interests me—especially now that there’s way more content available to guide beginners step by step.

I’m wondering if I should give the Ultimaker another chance or if I should switch to a much newer model like the Bambu Lab P1S. I couldn’t find any listings for an Ultimaker 3 on eBay, so I have no idea what it’s worth or if anyone would even want one. Either way, my first step would likely be getting the Ultimaker up and running again. Does anyone have a tutorial for “reviving” it?

I’ve also read that the Ultimaker requires a specific filament size—is that true? Back then, I only used the spools that came with it.

Compared to much newer PLA printers, how does the Ultimaker 3 stack up in terms of quality and speed?

I’d be super grateful for any insights since I’m essentially starting from scratch. Thanks so much in advance, and I hope you all have a great day! :)

Or, if you are good at 3D painting, how often do you get requests to paint? I'm thinking of getting a 3D printer, but I suck at painting and not sure I have time to do it. Might it just be better to commission others to print, paint, then ship it to me?

So I recently ordered a Bambu lab a1 printer and am about to receive it. The only problem is I’m starting to doubt if it was a good purchase. Can you guys hype me up or give me ideas of what to print? Thanks! I appreciate it.

I accidentally dried a spool of PETG in my Sunlu S2 at the TPU setting (56C). The PETG settings is 51C. I only printed one small sample swatch before drying it so I don't really have something to compare to before/after drying. Everything I've printed after drying has a matte look. I know PETG can do that if you are printing too fast or too cool and my settings are fine (just trust me).

Could such a minor temp increase during drying cause the next 175g to all be matte? The spool is very nicely wound, I would have assumed that after a couple layers of turns things would revert to normal.

These posts are nothing but upvote-bait and they're all the same. Just because someone is selling something for a certain price doesn't mean people are actually buying it, and the internet has always full of people selling overpriced junk to people too ignorant to know better. (And as some comments point out, some of these prints aren't even that overpriced when you factor in the time cost and potential cost of failed prints.)

I follow this sub because I like to discover new designs and learn more about the technical side of 3D printing, but there are a ton of posts that are just people being bitter about 3D printing going mainstream or some random person selling generic prints online. There is a real issue of people selling prints of other people's designs without permission, so posts on issues like this are perfectly valid, but if the whole point is getting mad at a random person on Facebook Marketplace charging too much for plastic toys, then it's just ragebait.

I know this post will probably fall on deaf ears, but all the bitterness and negativity in 3D printing community really takes a lot of fun out the hobby. It would be more productive to have discussions on how someone can sell 3D prints in an ethical way without ripping off their customers or other creators. But a lot of the time, the point seems to be getting mad that 3D printers are becoming more user-friendly and some people are trying to take advantage of that to make money.

3D printers are only going to continue becoming easier to use, and there are going to be more and more people trying to monetize their prints, so I wish people would stop pretending to be surprised by this.

I have a Cannabis shop and i use these Masonbrite tops so my customers can get up and close and personal. One of my stoner thoughts is add tiny miners, aka men mining the trichomes of the buds. Where could i get custom 3D printing that small. Under a mm in size.

I was looking through reddit and noticed that the market for print recycling is fairly scarce. I came up with an idea for a service that takes your failed prints, waste filament, and other prints you no longer want and makes spools of filament out of them. Once you send enough, (around a little more than a kilo) you get a discount on the recycled filament spools that are available/ you receive a filament spool of recycled filament. Not a serious thought, (yet 👀) but I thought it could be interesting.
