We are currently sending pull requests to mainline Lemmy when individual features get done (so far 1 has). If our updates aren't taken we will hard fork to make sure our communities get the spoiler and mod features we need in order to function. Our dev team currently works on features specifically requested by our community mods and members, and is not devoted to working on specific requests from mainline Lemmy, but it's nice when those features overlap.

I've heard of Demon Cycle and read that it's pretty good. Sounds interesting!
I just finished Waybound a week or so ago. Cradle is fantastic and only gets better with each book. Ghostwater is where things really start to take off though. You're in for a treat :D
I didn't even think of filtering by flair. I will add it to the list, this could be pretty important.
I am having the same issues finding communities from kbin. Once subscribed, things show up, but I can't find the community to subscribe to in the first place. We are federated but I think it's taking some time to really gain audience.

They sell the extra boxes until they run out. I do not think they have plans to stock individual swag items in the future but considering how popular those were, who knows what they will decide.
