I'm looking for an application thats designed to be a privacy focused alternative to Google's 'Google Assistant'. I've been looking for years, and couldn't. Spite me looking on F-Droid and github. I couldn't find anything that I was satisfied with. I'm on android 10, meaning I'm aiming for an optimized app, hell, an app not using spyware components or tracking etc.

I was wondering if anyone has discovered a Google Slides alternative web app where I could have, I can create presentations where in a privacy focused manner, something like proton docs.

I just don't feel like using Google Slides even Though it's pretty well known and I might use it. I just don't trust Google if you know what I mean

I was wondering if there was an Open Source OnlyFans Alternative dedicated to Linux and Computer Engineering Related Content. Same Idea but with Unix Porn.

If this would exist, what would you do in its development, How would you improve it and make it profitable?

I am currently working on a video game project, It's 3D, and in a particular feature where players can listen to the radio. I want to pull data from Odysee (LBRY) and a specific channel that I want to play in-game.

If I can't pull data from the network, Is there another way for me to access either music or video content without breaking a ToS.

I'm working with python if that helps.I am also new, or semi new to Python.

What a great project! Love the idea. I’m going to check it out later as I’m a bit busy.

YouTube RSS... (lemmy.zip)
submitted 1 month ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I was wondering if there was any way I could grab all of the content creator's channel (that I watch) rss feed from YouTube and make it into one html file to host it on my github pages. I can then go to my rss reader, I use YouTube music and AntennaPod. YouTube music for my iPhone and AntennaPod on android as a backup.

Just wondering if this was possible, but also, I remember seeing a reddit post (or stack overflow) not long ago, like a year ago. A user asked about this and youtube shut that down due to, and I'm taking a guess, its because of this may block ads preventing them from making profit.

Alien What If... (i.imgur.com)
submitted 1 month ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Let’s imagine a hypothetical scenario where an alien spaceship crash-lands at a specific spot where North Dakota and Saskatchewan meet. In this case, would the aliens face any legal consequences, such as fines or imprisonment, for illegally crossing the border? Given that this location is quite remote and sparsely populated, how do you think authorities from both the United States and Canada would handle such an unprecedented situation in terms of jurisdiction and border control?

Just wondering because I do believe that there are other lives out there in this vast universe. Sorry, but the last post I made regarding Streetview, I checked out panoramax.fr, and found it really interesting and fun to use as a FOSS Google Maps Alternative.

I was wondering if it was possible to upgrade my phone to Android 11 (god for bid Android 13/14) on my Samsung S9.

I remember back when I did this, back in 2020 I somehow installed Android 11, it must of been an update Samsung rolled out and I didn't noticed until in December of 2021, I accidentally factory reset, yes, ask me how I managed to do that.

Just wondering if this is possible, as I know its not, and I know that the S9 is EOL.

I am trying to find this application that's in fdroid (repo on github) but I am unable to find it again. It's an application designed to help bring the music finder feature from android 12+ to older versions. Android compute core.

shazam foss alternative built into AOSP

Just something I like that Android has, no Google from what I've read back when I got my pixel. The music that my phone detects doesn't get sent to google. Anyways, I can't find app, and the icon is literally the same as the official one from what AOSP has.

I was wondering why there isn't or if there is, an Open Source (Free, or not) Street View like Google Maps. I like geography as a hobby, like my other hobbies, and found GeoHub which sparked my interest in being a free geoguessr alternative. I just don't understand why Google is the only Mapping service people go to, is Google the only one that has street view? is this a hard business model to achieve?

Please, I'd love too know :)

I watched this video where they talked about how someone installed Linux on their Google drive. Like, installing everything in Google drive, not finding some Google client. Storing the /* in Drive.

I am currently attempting to do this as well, but with Microsoft OneDrive. I'll update you all on my progress!

Yeah, thanks!

I tend to forget movies and such lol. I thought it was something short, just couldn’t get the name.

I forgot the name of this particular marvel series that I wanna watch again.

The plot is as followed:

In the beginning, a female X-Men saves her boyfriend who is also an X-Men, she gets kidnapped by the CIA. Later the team, (her boyfriend included) and another family that kids also have X-Men abilities help save her.

These, I would say a small group of X-Men are isolated in a single house surrounded by forest to “protect” them.

This is obviously live action.

Yeah! I did ‘rest’ for rest api support. That works too

[-] [email protected] 12 points 4 months ago

Alright, yeah, I'm using KDE. I don't recall downloading anything, like clam AV, ever.

I knew that .db stood for Database.

Likewise, I guess this could be, like you said, some sort of program I previously installed that checked for a list of URLs that are malware. Again, I have never installed any program like these, and if I did, I would probably delete it after a minute of checking it out lol.

To be real with you, I find windows more complicated, the syntax..

[-] [email protected] 10 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

It’ll be back up, it always will because family “has” to use it because it’s the only “easy to use” social media platform they’ve knew for a decade. TBF, it’s pretty shit in terms of the ui and I can’t navigate through the damn settings.

I don’t actively browse or use facebook

[-] [email protected] 6 points 8 months ago

Listen, it’s a screenshot from when I was using windows back in 2020. It’s from Facebook messenger, I just didn’t feel like downloading and uploading when Lemmy has a url link I can drop here. Sorry, I get why you hate Facebook, me too. I just find it convenient to use the link feature. Again, privacy badger is a useful add on I use that helps blocks Facebook and X (Twitter) widgets.

Nice, I did know Steam had an overlay, as I used it once. OBS, I have seen people use Replay Buffer. I'll probably check this out.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

I wasn't sure lol, and again, I havn't played in 4 years after starting my world so I was sort of confused, although sort of understand it. I also started travelling through the nether for a faster way of getting there.

I don’t like the proprietary nature of Macs though 🥲

There should be more ways to earn profit. Websites shouldn’t rely on advertising as the only method of recurve stream, in my opinion.

I was also going to use unity for my video game, but as I saw that unity changed their policy, or is going to change it too the worse in January. I’m going to stick with Godot.
