Ah, this is because Mozilla Location Services is dead (I guess it wasn’t AI enough). And now GNOME are considering Google – because, why not? Nothing wrong with Google, amirite?
@aral I mean… Why would you want location anyways? To tell how the weather is? I have never enabled it on any of my devices, I just don’t see why people would find the privacy tradeoff useful even 🤷♂️
@vladimir_lu Off the top of my head: (a) Weather (b) Auto time-zone (c) auto light/dark mode based on sunrise/sunset.
Oh, and, location (maps) and directions.
@[email protected] @vladimir_[email protected] Literally the only reason I need location is when I'm specifically using an automatic map/GPS system while driving. Everything else can be done with a postal code or town name, which does give a general area, but at least it's not more precise than that.
@[email protected] I don't see any URL (47.0.1).
@[email protected] I’m on 46.4 – so they likely removed that.
Is Google implemented in 47?
@[email protected] 🤷 (I never use this kind of service)
