The real treasure was the torrents we downloaded along the way.

I think it is just a matter of convenience. Very few people buy lasers to aim them at airplanes. Give everyone a laser and you'll get a thousand reports of people aiming lasers at their plane.

As others have pointed out in other posts, they are using Spez as an escape-goat. It makes total sense. Once they get rid of Spez, their policies will remain and the hate will no longer have a tangible target.

I see a fellow social democrat and I upvote.

People here think that if you agree with private property and private incentive then you suck billionaires d*cks.

Man, there is a whole spectrum that is much more realistic than pure communism or socialism.

When I was an exchange student there, it was so painful. In my country I could walk places... Like, damn, going to the store to buy a snack or something. In Ohio I needed to ask someone for a 30m ride to the nearest location. It was just farm after farm after farm.... Damn... It sucked.

I'm used to audio stopping as soon as I switch to another app. Is it possible to do the same with Firefox?

The audio keeps playing, so I have to go back to the app and manually stop the video.

Edit: just realized this also happens if I close the app (not just switching apps). Is this really the desired behavior? I want to give Firefox a shot but I may have to back to DuckDuckGo if this can't be changed :(

Thabks.

I'm currently learning with Duolingo and even though I can read, I've realized I never know which syllable should be accented.

A simple example: みず.

How can I tell if the accent goes on "mi" or "zu"? Is it like English? Like you need to hear the word to know where the accent goes? Or are there rules that let you know just by reading it?

I know this is a bad take, but my hate for PHP is why I'm in Lemmy.

They created a business model around violating user privacy. Imagine if I asked "if slavery is no longer legal, how will the cotton fields be profitable?"

So, now being more realistic, just do ads without tracking people. Maybe ask people which types of ads they want to see instead of fucking spying on them to know every detail of their lives.

I use Ubuntu. I think it's funny how Arch users immediately assume they know more about Linux than me because of my distro choice. My hobby is learning about Linux and I can do that perfectly from my Ubuntu machine.

I've used Arch in the past, and let me tell you, nothing crazy is going on in there.

Yes, Ubuntu sucks because they are forcing Snaps on people while snaps are slow as hell. Thankfully they haven't fully shoved snaps down our throats. If they don't make snaps faster before shoving them down my throat, I'll just distro hop. Probably to Debian. I love Debian.

And he thinks TL;DRs are for kids with ADHD. Totally egotistic. I'm sure his whole point can be heavily TL;DR'd.
