I've been with unity since the early days and back then it was this simple little engine.

Today it's a nightmare. I just made an hdr project and imported their own terrain example assets and guess what? It's broken in multiple ways. Now I have to waste time fixing it, instead of focusing on my project. And that's as a unity expert rather than a beginner.

That's not to mention all the errors it loves to throw at me, even though it's all quite vanilla. And how it loves to grab my attention with popup windows that block my view. How builds fail when I focus on another window. I could go on.

They keep adding features without finishing them. Clearly some kind of impulsive marketing behavior, rather than listening to the experts.

The cherry on top is that licensing nonsense they pulled, putting my hard earned livelihood in danger. That stuff really makes you scratch your head and look around.

Seriously, try out Godot.

Edit: I actually just realized I haven't even started yet with truly getting stuff off my chest here.

The context is that I am going digital nomad in three weeks on my electric bicycle. 250w motor/controller. I'm pulling a large cart with a 24v 25Ah gel lead acid battery inside.

For now I am keeping things simple. I'll add some fuses and diodes, and use a smart charger to 220v. 6mm2 wire.

I am looking to solar for an even better solution, since the various adapters for car type 2 and camping grounds are quite expensive, and I am also planning on staying in nature occasionally. Plus the whole eco thing.

So I'll stick to only the 220 for now and stay in western Europe. But I'd like to plan for adding solar and was wondering if anybody here would be willing to consult me.

You can see my (pre-upgrade) bike without cart at toot.community/@lilly

I once had to fix someone's heater. Went up a stairs around some corners and this apartment was just.. so different from anything I had ever seen before. It was like entering a movie set.

I am talking pink fluffy walls and crystal beads hanging in the doorway. Like just imagine the gayest possible and multiply by 10.

The craziest part was that this is in a tiny village, very conservative and religious even compared to the area it's in. We are talking bible belt in the bible belt kind of territory. We had a freakin polio outbreak! Because vaccine bad. During corona a corona tent was burned down.

This guy just didn't give a fuck and I love him for it.

It's good for all of us to be privacy literate, given that things can take a turn for the worse in many places, or already are bad. There was a post a few days ago that highlighted how the vast majority of trans people rely on internet access 🤔

I'll start by saying that matrix seems to be a solid solution for communication, and tor for accessing information. It's worth it to get familiar with them before you need them yourself, but also to understand them as a community so we can support each other globally 🏳️‍⚧️

I am also wondering if any of you are familiar with getting around network restrictions. For example a DIY mesh network? 📡

Don't give up. Eat your breakfast. Be ready to open the door. Sometimes I just can't take it anymore. A shoe lace here, a shoe lace there, all tangled up and poor.

I ruminate in the deepest point of darkness. In the eye of the singularity and at the heart of warmth. Thuds of fire strike upon the distant shore.

I pull and I pull, but I cannot free my neck. And my face runs pale, and my experience runs thin. I gasp for air, and I let it in.

An oasis in my breath. The orange of orange juice. And I, and I can be found in the blue sky, by the grace one cannot lose.

When last night I lay in pain, I snapped this just for you, as the moon came.

I was at this fry shop today and the owner was teaching his new minions how to make what I had ordered. He said sir in the background. Well, I'm used to it, so whatever, I plopped my butt down and waited for that golden finger lickin' goodness.

Eventually the guy awkwardly comes to the front through a door. Acts out of place. Says something nice to this person and that person, dunno what he was up to at first so I just did my thing.

At some point he works up the courage and walks up to me and makes some small talk. Then he asked me my pronouns, so I'm like she/her. He apologized that he misgendered me before and called me adorable! 😭

Now, just yesterday someone called me a trannie before riding off on his bicycle, but that's a story for another time. Safe to say I'm a fair Claire ⭐

Many game companies specifically target vulnerable people, who end up spending their entire pay check every month, and are called Whales.

I mean, whenever I hear an alarm I ignore it, because I just hear it so often. But what if instead we used these types of alarms for real emergencies? For example a personal alarm to protect yourself.

Slightly unrelated but it kind of reminds me of a guest room I used to have.

I had this tiny but amazing little room in the center of an expensive city. Walking distance from station. Large balcony. Large windows with sun. Blackout curtains. Silent. Pretty wooden desk. Ample storage space. Mirror. Shiny clean. Lots of features, basically!

Couchsurfers were always so deeply thankful and I've never had any real issues. It was fun and rewarding.

Airbnbers? Oh my god there were some entitled guests. And it was just eur 25 a night! There's even emotional labor involved because you have to take it with a smile or you might end up receiving a bad review and drop out of the search.

I can't for a second imagine a surfer acting that way. Just like this article says it's like they assume there's this capitalist alienated relationship going on, whereas actually it's simply a gift.

You should really be careful with that as you might just invoke some ancient powers through an obscure string of characters. I'm not saying cthulu.

Wasn't it Sony that released an album that'd root your system? Bunch of criminals if you ask me.

I met this 18 yo girl who smoked not so long ago. Like really? How does one even get started these days?

My mind was blown when I found this little plastic ball in a sports store which you can put between your back and a wall and you can massage yourself. It works wonders within even seconds of using it. It's only a few euro and I used to waste hundreds of euro on massages. And you can take it anywhere because it's small and light.

I use Jitsi professionally. Never had a problem. I send a link over and they hop on via the web interface and get it working quickly without prior knowledge of the platform. Oh ya, minor detail: it's FOSS.
