As for i5 vs i7, performamce wise in your use case, they shouldnt matter much. HOWEVER the new larger battery i think is only included with the i7 model, so you may need to pay more of you want that extra 11% capacity if you get the lower end model.
On the topic of 13 vs 16, only the addons are interchangeable between the 13 and 16 (that is, the expansion cards, wifi if on the same cpu vendor, ram if you only go with intel etc) the mainboard is not compatible between the two models, as well as anything that is designed around the chasis size (e.g screen)
We have no info on the battery for the 16, but we assume that it will have a larger battery given that its target audience is for people who want/need more performance.
Alright thank you! I'll probably just go for the i5 then, the extra 300 isn't worth for only 11% gain I guess.
As for the mainboard not being compatible, is this gonna be the standard going forward? if I buy the 13 am I stuck with those specs? That is a huge part of me getting this laptop so that would become a very hard buy if thats the case.
Edit: oh I might just be stupid is the 13 and 16 just standing for the size of the laptop? which means parts that fit the 13 should be out in the future should I need one.
With the $300 you save going to the i5, you could buy a USB-C power bank that'll hold more than 11% of a charge and also work on your phone, tablet, or Nintendo Switch.
