It'll be interesting to see if Meta can convert enough users to Threads for it to be a lasting platform. As much as I don't like Meta, they're in the best position to take over this social space with the most resources to do it. Especially while Twitter is laughably bad right now.
I’m eager to see when it opens up for federation.
There’s been a lot of hand wringing on Mastodon about it, but I feel like if I can follow a friend who uses Threads from my Mastodon account then great. I don’t have to use their app AND I can follow/interact with my friends.
This is the best part about threads using the fediverse.
We'll be able to follow people (mostly celebrities, news and sports) without installing the app.
On top of that you won't see ads or have your feed messed up by an algorithm, I'm excited to see how it develops
