I doubt the Secret Service would let him leave, and Trump likely still has some form of diplomatic passport, which would be extremely difficult for a judge to simply take away.

However, you can bet that his comments will be a factor in next month's sentencing, and maybe tip the scales toward jail time. The most likely sentence is probation, but if he is openly saying he's gonna skip the country, that may cause the judge to doubt whether Trump will make it to all of his meetings with his probation officer.

Remember this?

Joe Biden is expected to receive Secret Service protection with a new team that is more familiar to him and replacing some agents amid concerns that they may be politically allied with Donald Trump.

Or this?

"The Department notified us that many U.S. Secret Service (USSS) text messages from January 5 and 6, 2021, were erased as part of a device-replacement program," Inspector General Joseph Cuffari wrote to top members of congressional Homeland Security committees. "The USSS erased those messages after OIG requested records of electronic communications from the USSS, as part of our evaluation of the events at the Capitol on January 6."

Agents assigned to Biden were replaced because of questionable loyalty and the USSS actually destroyed evidence after the OIG requested the records for their Jan-6 investigation. It appears that MAGA has penetrated frighteningly far into the Secret Service. What do you think the odds are that any of agents assigned to protect Trump aren't absolute MAGA zealots?

I don't know where that shit comes from.

SS doesn't have a say in shit. They can recommend things and most rational people would go along with it, but an ex president can do whatever they want and the SS has to follow along.

trump could get on a private plane, refuse to let SS on, and just fly to Russia. Hell, he can let them on and still do it. It's not like SS is going to take over a fucking plane.

To add to this, I'm pretty sure they would still be responsible for his protection, even in Venezuela.
