I swear by Blackwing pencils.

Also, the 'two minute rule', which has really improved my life: "if it takes two minutes or less to do, just do it now; if it takes longer, schedule it." I've got untreated attention issues and it's very easy for me to notice something needing done, and overlook or procrastinate it because it seems inconvenient in the moment. Having a totally painless rule that forces me to acknowledge that thing I should pick up, that trash bag I should change, etc, or, to at least put on my calendar anything I mustn't forget in the long run has been great for me.

Slowly transitioning myself into more FOSS and self hosting. Linux is tough because I'm fairly dependent on software that, to the best of my knowledge, wouldn't work on it. Dual booting doesn't sound fun

I dual boot win10 and Garuda Arch(I use Arch BTW) and it's pretty painless. Garuda is a gaming centric distro, it plays almost every game I throw at it with no fuss. The only reason I still use windows at all is because my music production programs refuse to run on Linux, regardless of what settings I use in wine or Proton.

I think music production software uses some system APIs that might not even be possible to replicate with Wine or Proton.

I use Fruityloops and Deckadance, FL Studio 18 (I think) has been successfully run in wine, but I'm on 21....annnnd not so much. Deckadance not even close.

It looks like at least FL Studio can work with Wine, but you have to use ASIO for audio.

I've tried that, doesn't jive. At least I'm not skilled enough to follow the simple instructions well enough to get it to work.

Edit: I'll have another go, last time I checked the wine db 18 was the most current working version

Wine can be difficult to get working right (I have tried to use Wine for a few things before and I also had issues with it that I couldn't solve), so it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't work right for you. It is a miracle that they can get any apps to run on a completely different operating system, and audio software tends to be very complicated and often depends on system APIs.

I usually don't have much if any trouble with wine, but for whatever reason couldn't ever get FL running

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My main troubles with Wine were when I tried to get Roblox to run under it. It ran, but only barely, and I don't quite know why, but I had to use Grapejuice to get it to run without feeling like it was running on a low-end computer from 2005.

I mean, at least you got it running

[โ€“] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I am sure you probably could get FL Studio to run as well with some time and research.
